Close To Home Child Development Center opened its doors on Grand Avenue in February of 1987 with 4,400 square feet at our current location. Barb Votel was the founder and owner. Lisa Guyer-Rooney joined her as a co-owner before the move to Grand Avenue in 1987. Ann Lee joined Close To Home as a full time director and co-owner in March of 1989. In 1992, Barb left Close To Home to pursue other interests. Lisa Guyer-Rooney taught toddlers until 1998 at which time she starting working part time as director/staff liaison. In 1993, Close To Home expanded to include a One-Year-Old room increasing our space to 6,000 square feet. Ann and Lisa continue to be involved as owners and have a hands approach to the program.
Our Objectives
- Provide a warm, nurturing environment in order to foster the development and potential of each child.
- Provide an environment based on positive and successful experiences, helping all children to develop a healthy self-concept.
- Create an environment that encourages each child to develop at his/her own pace according to their individual needs.
- Provide constant loving care to every child, thereby promoting security and bonding between our staff members and each child.
- Present daily living and learning as a happy and joyful experience which encourages each child to build a healthy foundation for a lifetime of healthy living and learning.
