Preschool Philosophy

Town & Country Day School now offers the Music Together Preschool curriculum to children ages 1-5. Music Together is a research-based early childhood program that helps all children learn music in developmentally appropriate ways. Families are provided with CDs and songbooks allowing Town & Country Day school to integrate music experiences at home with those in school. This creates a music-making community which supports a childs language cognitive emotional social and physical development.

Each week a trained Music Together specialist leads the children and their classroom teachers in a variety of song movement and instrument activities. With the help of the Music Together materials provided to each classroom the teacher then builds on the music-class experience during the week. Music becomes part of daily classroom life extending to other curriculum areas like language art and math.

Family members are welcome to attend a weekly Music Together class with their child and are invited to special music-making events throughout the year. They are also encouraged to use the CDs and songbooks at home allowing everyone to join in on the fun!
