Preschool Philosophy

CSI Head Start program utilizes the Creative Curriculum. The curriculum addresses all aspects of development and learning including:

The WINGS Curriculum is used as a resource for Head Start and Early Head Start.

The Creative Curriculum is enhanced by activities such as:

*Safety Sam transportation and pedestrian safety;
*I am Moving, I am Learning physical activities to combat childhood obesity;
*Second Steps dealing with conflict and character building

Special Needs

Each preschool child with a disability receives a comprehensive evaluation and an Individual Education Program (IEP) developed by a team of professional diagnosticians and the childs parent. Infants and toddlers with a disability receives a comprehensive evaluation and an Family Service Development Plan (FSDP). Therapy and prescriptive programming are provided with assistance from other agencies. The CSI Head Start program philosophy is that every child learns more readily when involved in a group, so children with disabilities are not separated from other children. Ten percent (10%) of total enrollment opportunities must be for children who have been professionally diagnosed or suspected as having a disability.
