Preschool Philosophy

Pinnacle Presbyterian Preschool is dedicated to helping enrich the lives of preschool children in our community and to provide a foundation of positive values centered in a Christian faith. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, our curriculum primarily emerges from the interests of and questions posed by the children. Teachers are considered partners in learning; providing thought-provoking and open-ended questions in order to help the children discover their own answers and information. Interests are further fostered through projects and activities that allow for exploration using a multitude of materials and media.

We believe children have an enormous potential and curiosity. The word education derives from the Latin word "ex-ducere" that means to bring out. The staff at Pinnacle Presbyterian Preschool understand that children's knowledge needs to be brought out using their natural curiosity. We believe that each person constructs their own intelligence from direct interaction with the environment and in social groups.

At our preschool we view children as being competent and capable individuals. We believe that each child has potential and it is our job to help encourage and develop that potential in whatever forms it manifests itself.

Our goal is to help develop all of your child's intelligence, not merely focusing on the linguistic and logical.

This recognition of "multiple intelligence," coupled with providing opportunities for working in "multiple languages" (drawing, sculpting, writing, science, music and movement, literacy and math, spoken language, and many more), provides each of our students the chance to thrive in a positive, supportive environment.
