Preschool Philosophy

We believe that the goal of Catholic education is to lead the child to Jesus through spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and personal growth. Therefore, we, the faculty and administration of St. Catherine Laboure School, acknowledging and supporting that parents are the primary educators of their children, direct our energies toward awakening in each child a sense of self-worth and responsibility as a member of the Christian community.

We honor and respect the cultural background of our families so as to become true partners and supporters in the education and development of the whole child.

We endeavor to create a Christian community in our school which will foster a spirit of love, support and openness among our administration, faculty, parents and children.

We realize that education is an on-going process, so, as teachers, we commit ourselves to continued renewal through updating in all areas of our faith and the curriculum.

We commit ourselves to witnessing to our Catholic beliefs, and strive to guide the children to make choices based on gospel values so that they may grow in wisdom and age and grace (Luke 2:52).

In partnership with parents, we prepare our students to become full and active members of the Catholic Church, to serve others, and to make a difference in the world. St. Catherine Laboure School promotes academic excellence for all students. To that end, we offer a challenging curriculum based on California and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles curriculum standards.

In supporting academic excellence for all students, we strive to maintain an environment conducive to learning wherein each child is valued and supported through our curricular and extracurricular programs. Additionally, all St. Catherine Laboure students are encouraged to be trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair and caring citizens, thus contributing to a safe and vibrant learning environment.
