Families First Daycare Center (FFDC) has been educating children since 1985, when it was founded by Teriera Putman.
In Teriera's words: I began this center because I am a parent of three wonderful daughters who were in need of quality child care services within my neighborhood, Boston's South End. I am a former teachers assistant who decided to pursue a formal child development education at Wheelock College in Boston. I received my Associated Degree prior to opening a home daycare in 1989 which I ran successfully for 19 years. In August of 2007 I opened up a larger Daycare Center called Families First Daycare.
At FFDC we encourage a childs sense of discovery even as they learn their colors, build their vocabulary, and use their imaginations, all of which contribute to their social and emotional development and, creative expression. During their daily activities and outings we focus on gross motor development which fosters healthy self-esteem and the confidence they need to take on the world. In addition to working with the children, I take an interest in building relationships with the parents. My goal is to help them feel at ease mainly because they are leaving their children in our care, and as a parent myself, I understand the daily stresses and can relate to many of the issues they grapple with daily.
