Child Care Provider Description

Many people do not realize that, as a whole, the YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the United States. We believe that the quality of child care cannot be undervalued, and thus, every YMCA program is grounded in our character development traits of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.
In our afterschool program, children will have the opportunity to be physically active for a minimum of 60 minutes as they engage in numerous activities such as Kids Zone, soccer, Kids Fit-n-Fun, basketball, circle games, Xbox Kinect, kickball, group building activities, Kids Zumba, swimming, Kids Yoga, Wii Fit, and more! Students will also receive a daily snack, which is immediately followed with a half hour of homework help! Other activities include arts and crafts, science experiments, and service learning projects. We want our students to be well-rounded and want to help your child grow and develop physically, mentally, and spiritually!
Our afterschool program begins immediately when school lets out until 6:00 P.M. Our staff is well trained and you can depend on the Y to make sure that all of the afterschool activities are well supervised. Our average staff to student ratio is 1:10, which is much lower than the state recommendations, and helps ensure that children get the individual attention and time needed to form positive relationships in the group setting. All of our staff are interviewed and go through a complete background check prior to being hired. As role models, they are selected for sound judgment, maturity, experience, enthusiasm, and creativity. Training occurs both before and throughout the school year to assure attention to detail. Furthermore, all staff are certified in CPR and First Aid.
