Prek Description
The Voluntary Pre-K for Tennessee initiative provides Tennessee's four-year-old children, with the first priority to those four year olds who are at risk, an opportunity to develop school readiness skills (pre-academic and social skills). The goal of every Tennessee Pre-K classroom is to provide our four-year-old children with the learning experiences they need in order to succeed in kindergarten.
All of our Pre-K programs are staffed with certified teachers and highly-qualified staff. Each classroom is provided one teacher and one teacher assistant. The maximum class size is 20. Our Pre-K programs follow the regular daily school calendar, and transportation is provided. All programs use research-based educational curriculum, aligned with the Tennessee Early Childhood Education-Early Learning Developmental Standards.
