Preschool Description

Medina Childcare was established by the Muslim American Society of Charlotte to promote and deliver quality child care and education services to our young children of five years and below.* Regardless of ethnic or religious background, Medina is open to all students interested in a strong moral and social upbringing, while learning the basics of Arabic, English and Islamic Studies in a nurturing environment.
Medina Childcare staff are both CPR and First Aid trained. Every teacher obtains regular training in all new and innovative teaching techniques. Teachers maintain consistant communication with parents through daily communication sheets and parents meets when necessary. All staff at Medina childcare are required to submit a detailed criminal records check, fingerprints, and proof of good physical and mental health before beginning work. All staff undergo a medical physical and TB test once a year.
The principles of the Medina Childcare curriculum follow the guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice set forth by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Our curriculum is based on extensive research and inspired by the work of respected development/early/education theorists. Weve arranged the way children learn into eight distinct smart titles.
- Nature Smart: Likes to be outside and care for living things.
- MathSmart:* Explores patterns and numbers, and enjoys figuring out how things work.
- Music Smart: Has a natural sense of rhythm, and enjoys singing, playing instruments.
- DesignSmart: The Visualizer loves to understand maps, draw, build, design, and create.
- BodySmart: Uses body language, loves to move and play sports, and other physical activity.
- WordSmart: Likes to read, write, and tell stories. Excels at learning and using new words.
- Me Smart: Likes to be introspective, is in-tune with their personal feelings and thoughts and enjoys working alone.
- People Smart: The socializer likes to work in groups, pretend to be someone else, and is sensitive to the feelings of others.
