Prek Description
The Missouri Preschool Program is an extension of the Title 1 Preschool program serving children with developmental needs, ages three to five. This tuition-based program operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, following the Columbia Public Schools' calendar for elementary schools. Eligibility is determined through a developmental screening process. The classroom offers young children opportunities to build their potential in a positive, nurturing, culturally diverse environment and is designed to prepare children for successful entry into kindergarten. Active family involvement is required to help children achieve this success. The early childhood teacher and instructional assistant plan age-appropriate learning experiences to promote development in literacy, communication skills, decision making and problem solving. The program is licensed and accredited and all entering students must submit a current medical examination.
