Childcare Description

Capital District YMCAs Thelma P. Lally Childcare Center is conveniently located at 204 S. Ten Broeck Street in the Village of Scotia. We provide a setting for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. The facilitys hours of operation are 7:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday throughout the calendar year.
Our program includes a nutritious breakfast lunch and afternoon snack utilizing a menu approved by the Child & Adult Care Food Program under the USDA. The daily schedule of each classroom is based upon the standards of the Creative Curriculum in which children are encouraged to learn through play. Every classroom is designed with multiple learning centers to help facilitate the learning process as well as incorporating character development with an emphasis on the YMCA core values of caring honesty respect and responsibility. The staff provides a supportive and nurturing environment to enhance problem solving skills increase self esteem and the opportunity for safer peer and adult interaction. Enrichment programs include computer classess for Toddlers and Preschoolers.
At the YMCA we believe that family involvement plays an important role in how we as teachers do our job and we try to provide a variety of ways for parents to be involved in their childrens school life from our open door policy to volunteering time in one of the center's classrooms.
The faculty and staff at our center maintain staff to child ratios set by the guidelines of the Office for Children and Family Services (OCFS). In addition our teachers are certified in CPR and First Aid as well as maintain 30 hours of training (over a two year period).
It is our goal to guide your child through his or her development and help to promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen family and community involvement. This Schenectady daycare is approved to administer prescription medications
