The Tucker-Maxon School was founded in 1947 as an auditory oral school for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Beginning in 2001, Tucker-Maxon extended enrollment to include students with typical hearing. Hearing and deaf students learn together in small classroom (8-10 students per class) taught by certified teachers 90% have masters degrees. Students with hearing loss do not use sign language; instead, with the help of assistive technologies and trained professionals, they listen, talk and learn like their typical hearing peers.
Tucker-Maxon is a place where both deaf and hearing students learn the importance of listening and spoken language for a lifetime of learning.
This nationally acclaimed school attracts students whose families have relocated from all over the United States, as well as internationally, in order to provide their children with The Tucker-Maxon School experience.
