Pre School Philosophy

The preschool program at the ELC is a mixed-age program designed to empower three four and five year-old students. Hands-on activities planned around childrens' interests nourish self-esteem and instill a love of learning. Our preschool classroom is a busy place where children have opportunities to problem solve experiment and explore while gaining skills in language mathematical reasoning science art and music.

We feel that a mixed-age program offers children "the best of both worlds". We give children opportunities to participate in activities with those of different ages so that younger children can learn from older peers and older children have chances to develop into leaders and mentors. We also have times of day when children are grouped according to age so that we can meet learning needs with activities specifically designed for differing attention spans and developmental levels.
