Childcare Description

Funding from the DPS Foundation provides diverse after-school programs for nearly 15,000 DPS students every year. After-school programs improve school attendance, decrease dropout rates and provide critical opportunities for enriching extracurricular activities that help a child develop their skills and creativity.
Experts say the hours between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. are peak hours for youth to engage in a variety of risky behaviors. Fortunately, students in Denver Public Schools have a fun, safe alternative they can participate in a variety of after school programs offered at their own schools throughout the year.
After-school and summer programs in DPS allow students to develop new talents, get extra help with their school work, enjoy arts and music classes, and play sports. These programs also provide a supervised environment for students, offering new opportunities for learning, social development and recreation.
