Hightower Elementary School Preschool first opened its doors in 1958. The school has grown in many ways since that time. Our student population has grown along with its wonderful diversity. Hightower comprises over 30 different nationalities and we are well known for our ability to embrace and celebrate that diversity in all that we do. Although we have many different backgrounds, as a school, we rally around one motto:
"Committed to Excellence: One Team, One Vision, One Success"
The mission of Hightower Elementary School Preschool is to provide a standards-based instructional environment grounded in integration of curricular content, and writing across the curriculum to promote seamless learning opportunities that increase student achievement and ensure that students transition to middle school without the need for remediation.
Hightower has been a standards-based school since 2001. As a result, the instructional program is rigorous and celebrates students for achieving academic performance goals. Our school culture is one that comprises many different cultures and native languages. Likewise, it is important for our students to maintain their native languages while successfully becoming fluent and proficient in English. As a school, our students are expected to read at least 400,000 books, each year. The students have exceeded this goal, each year. Hightower's teachers are some of the best-trained and instructionally- knowledgeable in our state. We are a team-oriented school with very high expectations. This is the basis for our school's success.
