Child Development Center Description

Fairview Adventure Club meets at Fairview Elementary School, which is located at 909 S Fairview Dr. The average enrollment at Fairview Adventure Club is 80 children AM/PM. Currently, in addition to the Site Facilitator, there are 164 University of Missouri college students employed as Site Assistants at this site. A majority of these students are Education or Early Childhood majors.
Fairview Adventure Club meets in the school cafeteria. We also have daily access to the school's gymnasium. On occasion, for certain activities, we are able to take small groups of children in the teacher's lounge. Fairview's outside playground is very large, with swings, climbers, tether balls, basketball goals and a large grassy field.
In the mornings, a parent or an authorized adult must initial the students in on a sign-in sheet. The sheets, printed in weekly increments, have columns for the student's arrival time and for the the initials of the person bringing the student to Adventure Club. A Site Facilitator or Site Assistant will initial in the student in the afternoon; a parent or other authorized adult must initial them out in the afternoon, noting the time that they departed.
In addition to the sign in/out sheet we also use a "Where am I?" pocket charts to keep track of the students. The pocket chart has 5 categories: Outside, Cafeteria, Gym, Homework and Bathroom. It is the students' responsibility to change their own name tag when they arrive in the morning and afternoons and when they decide to leave one area for another. They must also inform a staff member when they leave one area for another; we utilize walkie-talkies so that we may communicate with one another and ensure a student's arrival from one area to another.
The University of Missouri, which refers to the institution, in all of its parts, persons, property and relationships wherever situated, owned, operated, controlled, managed or otherwise regulated, is under the supervision or direction of The Board of Curators of the University of Missouri. The Board of Curators, the governing body of the University of Missouri, consists of nine members, who are appointed by the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate; provided, that at least one but no more than two shall be appointed from each congressional district, and no person shall be appointed a curator who shall not be a citizen of the United States, and who shall not have been a resident of the state of Missouri two years prior to his appointment. Not more than five curators shall belong to any one political party.
